49ers sign Bruce

Well, it didn't take long for Reverend Ike to find a new job. Unfortunately that new job is in San Francisco with the 49ers, the Rams long-time rivals from their California days. I have never liked the 'Niners, but I don't have the passionate hate that came with being a Rams fan back when they were in L.A. The good news for Bruce is that he is reunited with pass-happy coach Mike Martz, who will get the most out of him. The bad news is that the 49ers' QBs suck raw eggs. So how they plan on getting the ball to Bruce is beyond me. Anyway, Ike got a 2 year deal for $6 million. He turned down the Rams offer of 1 year at $3 million, so if he plays both years in Frisco he made a good decision. I hope he can pile up some more stats as a 'Niner (except against the Rams) so that his Hall Of Fame credentials get better and better. Go get 'em, Isaac!

My allegiances

So since I love sports, I have my favorite teams, of course. And some that I don't like so much. So I figure I'll just spell them out right here and be done with it.

College Football: Michigan Wolverines and whoever is playing Notre Dame. My hatred for the Irish runs deep. I also pull for ol' Mizzou.

Pro Football: St. Louis Rams and whoever is playing the New England Patriots. Also not very fond of the Cowboys.

Baseball: St. Louis Cardinals. Though now that they employ more busted PED users than any other MLB club, they are getting a little hard to defend.

Hockey: The St. Louis Blues and the Ottawa Senators. I got into the Sens because a good buddy of mine (that I met a long, long time ago on a sports gaming website) resides there. It's absolutely beautiful up there and of course, like most Ottawa residents, he lives and dies with the Senators. He informs me that I must also hate the Maple Leafs since I like the Sens.

Soccer: In the EPL, I like Liverpool and Everton. Rivals, I know, but since I am a Yank, I don't know too much of the history between them. I also root for Celtic in the Scottish Premier League. I don't follow soccer too closely, but I do root for these teams, mostly because I played with them in the Winning Eleven and/or FIFA soccer games. Shallow, I know.

Anyone who wants to argue the merit of my selections...BRING IT ON!!!

End of an era: Rams cut Isaac Bruce

Well, Ike has been my favorite Rams' player since the team moved to St. Louis. Apparently he did not want to take a pay cut to stay with the team. No one in a Rams' uniform exhibited more class than Ike. Unfortunately, this is the real world where the salary cap makes teams do things we may not like. I think Isaac still had something left in the tank. He is almost certainly better than any other receiver on the team not named Torry Holt. I hope to one day see Mr. Bruce in the Hall Of Fame as a St. Louis Ram. Best of luck, wherever you may end up, Ike.

So you wanna be a blogger...

Greetings! Quint75 here...
Well, I enjoy writing and am pretty opinionated, so with the help of my buddy Dave360, I have decided to give blogging a shot. I'm not sure how regular this will be or how much I'll have to say (wow, THAT makes you wanna check back frequently, huh?), but hopefully someone out there will find some things I say interesting or at least so dumb that they won't be able to let it pass without offering their own comments. I plan on writing about things I know, or at least I think I know. So common topics will be sports, movies, music, films and video games, mostly sports video games. Of course I'll also be offering stories about my life as a husband and father, though I'll try not to bore everyone to death with mundane details.
