Cards win!

The Cardinals got their first win of the season last night, 8-3, to even their record at 1-1. The offense was surprisingly robust, banging out 11 hits. Rick Ankiel was the star of the game with 3 base hits, including a solo HR that started the scoring, and a nifty catch in the outfield. Ryan Ludwick also starred by going 3 for 5 with a double and a triple and knocking in 3 runs to boot. Great job by our young outfielders. Todd Wellemeyer pitched 5 innings of 1-run ball, though he labored a bit, throwing 95 pitches. The bullpen leaked a little but held down the fort. In other good news, SS Caesar Izturis was hitless but drew 2 walks. If he can remain selective at the plate, perhaps he won't be the huge drain on the offense that everyone feared. Albert The Great went 2 for 2 with an RBI. He looks to be in great form early, which was not the case last season. Too bad his opening day HR was lost in the rain out.

Tomorrow is a 12:15 game, with Brad Thompson getting the start for the Cards. He is one of our weaker starters so we'll see what he brings to the table in his first game of the year. Go Cards!

P.S. - The Cubs are 0-2. Sweet!

I like how you bolded the "sweet". Nice. Good posts the last couple of days bro.

Hehe. Believe it or not, that wasn't for your benefit. The Cubs are a division rival and favored to take the Central, so it's good to see them fall. Plus I love the thought of it being 100 seasons w/out a world series title.

Wait till the Cubbies come your way. ;)

Yeah, the Cubbies are definitely the most talented team in the division. I expect the Cards to fade, that's for sure. But it has been a lot of fun so far!
